Cultural monuments such as the churches in Binnen, Bühren and Liebenau as well as extensive forests, heathland, marshland and moorland make this tour a varied experience. The wide view from the Geest plateau over the Weser valley and the marsh landscape is unmistakable. The 30 km long route leads along side roads and farm tracks. There are refreshment stops and benches in all districts along the route.

Directions
The tour starts and ends at one of the most beautiful places in Liebenau: the old pharmacy  "Löwinne" with fountain. It is located directly on the through road 200 m south of the large Aue bridge. Via Grüne Straße we come to Bahnhofstraße and from now on follow the signs for "Binner Schlucht".
An information board about the geological formation of this attraction invites us to take a short detour on foot.
The next section of our tour takes us along the Aue to the Binner barbecue hut. We continue along the edge of the marsh until we start the ascent to the Geest plateau behind a level crossing - either via the steeper mountain road or via the hairpin bends of the new mountain road with a good view over the Weser valley. At the top, we keep to the right to visit the beautiful old church in Binnen. We get the key to the church in the neighboring vicarage (incidentally, we also get the key to the church in Bühren). We take the Mühlenstraße to Bühren. On the way, we again have an excellent view of the Weser valley, and in good weather we can see the white Kaliberg on the Steinhuder Meer and even the Deister. We reach the church in Bühren and marvel at the gorge-like relief of the surrounding area, which you would expect to find in the low mountain range.
Now we leave the town center and pedal hard one last time to reach the Geest plateau.
After crossing the country road to Nienburg, we see a vast landscape of fields and many wind turbines in front of us. We treat ourselves to a break in Glissen. We then cycle westwards through a large pine forest towards Pennigsehl.
In summer, a small natural swimming pool - one of the first in Lower Saxony - invites us to take another break and enjoy a refreshing swim. A good 2 km further along our route is a special sight, the Mainscher Heide. Here the eye wanders over the broom heather and further over the lower lying moorland. The Fuchsberghütte in the adjacent forest invites you to take another break.
We reach Liebenau again via well-surfaced roads, passing Eickhof Castle with its cemetery and the town hall, where further information is available for guests. We recommend a visit to the well-equipped local history house "Witten Hus" diagonally opposite (contact: Lutz Linnepe, Ortstraße 3, Tel. 05023/945560).Â
The last few meters take us along Lange Straße past the building of the former watermill and over the large Aue bridge with its weir and the magnificent view of the river. On Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months, we can visit the Gothic church with its altarpiece full of figures. The church key is available from Lutz Linnepe or at the vicarage, Lange Straße 54, opposite our start and finish, the Löwinne.
