From apples to cherries and quinces to walnuts: 111 fruit trees can now be found in the one-hectare orchard meadow in the Achimer Marsch, which was created by Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V. under the direction of the Nabu group in Achim. The site shows the traditional form of fruit growing. Originally planted with 24 trees "scattered" 20 years ago, the meadow has now been extended with 87 additional trees donated by citizens. Display boards provide information about the predominantly native varieties, including striking names such as "Dülmener Rosenapfel", "Finkenwerder Herbstprinz", "Uphuser Tietjen Apfel", "Kassins frühe Herzkirsche" and "Graf Althanns Reneklode". The Achimer Marsch meadow orchard was awarded first place in the Lower Saxony Bingo Environmental Foundation's competition on the topic of "Who has the most beautiful meadow orchard in Lower Saxony?"
The meadow orchard is beautifully located in the Achimer Marsch, within walking distance of the town hall and the Achimer farming district, and is openly accessible.
