Achimer Wochenmarkt

With more than 50 different stalls, it is one of the largest weekly markets in the region. Twice a week, a variety of goods are offered along the entire length of the pedestrian zone, including fruits and vegetables, honey, asparagus, meat products, tropical fruits, smoked goods, hot meals, wood-fired baked goods, as well as seasonal items, plants, and flowers.

Achim received permission to hold a general goods and livestock market as early as 1752. The concession was renewed in 1767 following the Seven Years’ War. Since then, general goods and livestock markets have been held regularly in Achim, attracting visitors from the surrounding area as well. Since 1910, Achim has hosted a weekly market held twice a week, which was initially held on the Old Market Square. In 2010, the Achim weekly market celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Then as now, the Achim weekly market is a gathering place for Achim residents and visitors alike. The market, along with the surrounding shops, restaurants, and cafés, offers opportunities for shopping, strolling, relaxing, and enjoying food and drinks.
