A magnificent castle park surrounds Etelsen Castle. It is open to the public.
Etelsen Castle was built between 1885 and 1887 in the Neo-Renaissance style. The park was designed by Friedrich Kreiß, who was one of the most important garden artists in Lower Saxony at the time. Situated on the slope of the Weser and covering an area of around 10 hectares, the entrance features rose beds, a fountain with a Lower Saxony horse, winding paths, a park meadow and wooded parkland with a mausoleum. This was built in 1873 in the neo-Gothic style by Conrad Wilhelm Hase. Visitors can enjoy the diversity of nature on extended walks along over 4 km of hiking trails. Signs point out the flora. There are several sculptures along the paths.
