The figures are welded from sheet copper and are reminiscent of mythical creatures by Goya. The spectacles worn by these bird people are signs of erudition. The sculpture was inaugurated in 1989 and once had its place right in the middle of Bibliotksplatz. However, it was moved to the edge in front of the former municipal library (now the Alte Feuerwache restaurant) when the town was redeveloped.
