Skulptur "Justitia"

Sculpture
The stone sculpture "Justitia" has been located in the foyer of the historic district court since 2014.
It was created and designed by the sculptor Jänisch in 1906 with a height of 1.20 meters and a weight of 200 kilograms. Originally, the sculpture adorned the gable facade of the demolished building (Obernstraße 17) opposite the Gieschen Hotel. The Justitia was aligned with a view of the Gieschen intersection and was intended to commemorate the historical location of the post office, where the Gohgrefen held court until 1791. In Roman mythology, "Justitia" is a symbol of justice.
