Insights into the history leading from the counts of Hoya to the Thirty Years' War.
The period of transition from the Middle Ages to the early modern era has left numerous traces in the old town. The parish church of St. Martin rises up in the middle of the town as the final resting place of the counts of Hoya. The "Stockturm" tower is a reminder of their moated castle. Magnificent half-timbered houses and the town hall, built in the Weser Renaissance style, bear witness to the pride and self-confidence of well-heeled citizens. Farm houses, narrow alleyways and mighty manor houses give us an insight into the lives of people four to five hundred years ago.
