Wilhelmsturm

Lookout tower
Historical structure
Amid the Rehburg Hills, the Wilhelmsturm rises above peaceful forests—a historic tower on the Grimm Trail, where nature meets fairytale charm.
The Wilhelmsturm rises proudly in the southern stretches of the Rehburg Hills, close to the village of Wölpinghausen, southwest of Lake Steinhude. Surrounded by tranquil woodland, this historic tower offers visitors a perfect combination of cultural heritage and scenic beauty. Accessible only on foot, the climb to the Wilhelmsturm is part of the experience itself. Two forest trails lead through the peaceful landscape — one starting from Bad Rehburg’s historic spa complex, the other from Wölpinghausen. Both reward walkers with picturesque views and the soothing sounds of nature along the way. The path is also a section of the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Trail, inviting travellers to step into the world of “Rapunzel”. The enchanting forest setting adds to the sense of a storybook atmosphere, making the approach to the tower truly memorable. Once at the top, visitors can enjoy a moment of calm reflection or take in the serene surroundings near a small kiosk nestled among the trees. The Wilhelmsturm is more than just a viewpoint — it is a place where history, fairy tales, and nature come together to create an experience that feels timeless and uniquely Lower Saxon.
