In preparation for the 1,000th anniversary celebrations of the district of Baden, the town of Achim built a new grandstand in 2012 at the suggestion of the Badener Vereine working group.
The working group also built an open-air stage with a marquee roof with the support of sponsors. Several concerts are now held in Dürings Park every year in the summer months.
Dürings Park used to belong to an adjoining manor house which, together with its outbuildings, made way for the park estate in 1969 and was demolished. Around 350 years ago, the park land was owned by various families, some of them aristocratic.
In 1910, it became the property of cigar manufacturer Johann von Düring. He redesigned the park together with the well-known landscape gardener Wilhelm Nieber and planted exotic trees such as sweet chestnut, trumpet tree, weeping elm and conifers.
