Where there was heath, there were also sheepfolds. In Hülsen, 7 sheepfolds are still preserved in their original location. 2 stables have been rebuilt after having stood elsewhere or been temporarily stored. The total of 10 stables are now listed as an ensemble. The Kulturförderkreis Hülsen is dedicated to preserving and safeguarding the ensemble of sheep stables.
Two stables also serve as exhibition spaces for old farming and craft equipment. A bakehouse was built on the village community square near the sheepfolds, which was inaugurated in May 2000. During the summer months, good bread and delicious butter cakes are baked there on "baking days", as was customary in the countryside during the "baking oven era", while interested visitors are also shown this form of baking and how the oven works.
An information board explains the local potash history.
Guided tours of the site are available. The time of heath farming is brought back to life and shows how the Hülsen farmers lived and farmed 200 years ago.
