Some of these date from around 1600, when mainly fishermen and boatmen lived here. The residents also owned livestock to provide for themselves. The half-timbered house at Große Fischerstraße no. 27 with its stone-clad front wall dates from 1816. The Falkenburg family had run a tannery on the site since 1807. "Lohe" means brew made from oak bark. Animal skins were processed into leather here. The cattle head looking down from the wall of the house indicates the tanner's trade.
