The village of Bruchhausen-Vilsen has around 40 km of marked hiking trails. The combination of different paths creates circular routes of various lengths (Tour 1-Tour 7). It goes through gentle hills, fields, lush meadows past streams and through unspoiled nature around Bruchhausen-Vilsen.
The diversity of nature and the charms of the seasons make these trails tours of discovery. Refreshment stops, places of interest and special features are included in the respective tour descriptions. The routes are easy to recognize thanks to the signposting and generally lead along paths that are easy to walk on.
Tour 1 Mönchsweg from Vilsen to Heiligenberg (3 km, markings: Mönch):
Special features: Upper watermill of the former monastery (Klostermühle), Kneipp outdoor area, Heiligenberg forester's lodge, ring wall complex, historic trains on the small railway line at weekends from May 1 to October 3.
At the beginning there is a short stroll through Bruchhausen-Vilsen. From Brautstraße, behind the church in Vilsen, the route leads along Lindenallee past the cemetery to Wiehe-Bad and the spa gardens. From there, the route continues past the old Vilsa fountain through Birkenallee via Homfeld through meadows and fields to the monastery mill and up to the ring wall.
In the Middle Ages, there was a monastery in its protection, after which this area is called Heiligenberg, today the "Forsthaus Heiligenberg". From here, it is a 20-minute walk through the Dillertal valley to Heiligenberg railroad station. From there, the return journey can be made via Tour 2 Kleinbahnweg (marked: steam locomotive) or on weekends from 1 May to 3 October with the museum railroad.
The tour can also be found at Komoot.
