The building was rebuilt in 1987 true to its predecessor, which could no longer be renovated due to severe deterioration. Fertilizer, seeds and fuel were stored in the old granary for many years. From the second half of the 18th century into the 19th century, the old marketplace was the location of the traditional cattle market with a wide variety of animals on offer. At the same time, a stalls market was held in Obernstraße, Bahnhofstraße and Borsteler Landstraße. 80 to 100 stalls, carousels and shooting galleries also made the markets attractive to the people of Bremen. Today, a traffic circle with children's play equipment forms the center of the old market square.
