Skulptur "Karl der Große"

Sculpture
Prof. Dr. Volker Neuhoff (Nienburg), 1991, bronze
The bronze sculptures were erected to the right and left of the church portal to mark the 550th anniversary of the parish church of St. Martin. The 2.27-metre-tall Charlemagne holds an orb and a sharp sword in his hands, while his adversary Widukind (2.20 meters tall) holds a Bible and a blunt sword. The figures symbolize the reconciliation of two arch-enemies.
