It shows the coats of arms of the expellees' regions of origin on seven sides: Brandenburg, Gdansk, Silesia, East Prussia, West Prussia, Pomerania, Sudetenland. The eighth side bears the inscription: "Never lost - always remember".
The memorial was unveiled on May 8, 1955 and renovated by the city in 1991.
