Hohlwege

Archaeological site
To the west of the barrow heath there are gullies in the forest, so-called hollow ways.
These are remnants of old routes. The paths, deepened by erosion, run here as a so-called bundle of paths towards the former ford through the Gibbach.

From prehistoric times until the 19th century, a path ran through this area, which has been known since the Middle Ages as the Lüneburg salt or postal route.
