Beckmann-Haus

Half-timbered house
Historical building
Birthplace Johann Beckmann (1739-1811), Professor of Philosophy and Economics in Göttingen.
The house was built in 1614. There is evidence that Hoya's first post office was located here, which was run by Nikolaus Beckmann and his wife from 1734. Johann Beckmann (1739-1811), the founder of "technology" as an academic subject, co-founder of agricultural sciences, promoter of commodity science and progenitor of technical historiography, was also born in this house. The international Johann Beckmann Society was founded in Hoya in 1987.
