Historical building
The building was erected in 1846/47.

Here, between the two courses of the old and new Eyter rivers, stood the moated castle of Thedinghausen in 1285. This is where the name "Am Burgplatz" comes from. It was built by Archbishop Gieselbert of Bremen to protect the archbishopric of Bremen against the Counts of Hoya.

The castle later lost its strategic importance and fell into disrepair. In 1679/81 the Brunswickers took over the office of Thedinghausen and erected an extensive ensemble of buildings on the former castle square. The present office building was erected in 1846/47 . The building lost its purpose as a district court and seat of the district administration during the Second World War. Today it is used by the Thedinghausen Youth Center.
