The Aller is a 260 km long tributary of the Weser. Its source is in Eggenstedt near Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt. It flows into the Weser near Verden.
The Aller is the largest tributary of the Weser and also the largest river in northern Germany that does not flow into the sea. It is designated as a federal waterway for 115 km. The river was regulated and diked in the 1960s for flood protection.

Larger towns on the Aller are: Verden, Rethem, Schwarmstedt, Wietze, Celle, Gifhorn and Wolfsburg. The 328 km Aller cycle path is also well-known (www.allerradweg.de).
