Achimer Wochenmarkt

  • Weekly market
Achim's weekly market has over 100 years of history.
With more than 50 different stalls, it is one of the largest and most popular markets in the region. Twice a week, a wide variety of delicacies are offered along the entire length of the pedestrian zone, including fruits and vegetables, honey, asparagus, meat products, tropical fruits, smoked goods, as well as hot meals and baked goods from a wood-fired oven, and plants and flowers.

Achim received permission to hold a general goods and livestock market as early as 1752. The permit was renewed in 1767 following the Seven Years’ War. From then on, general goods and livestock markets were held regularly in Achim, attracting visitors not only from the immediate vicinity. Since 1910, Achim has hosted what is known as the “twice-weekly market,” which was initially held on the Old Market Square. In 2010, the Achim weekly market celebrated its 100th anniversary in grand style.

Both in the past and today, the Achim weekly market has been and remains a popular gathering place for Achim residents and visitors alike. The market, along with the surrounding shops, restaurants, and cafés, invites visitors to shop, stroll, and linger, chat with friends and acquaintances, and enjoy food and drinks.
