To the Alte Weser and the Wieltsee. Start: "Am Zollhof" in Dreye

We pass a double barrier and walk towards the Weser. The Reisegarten is immediately on our left. We then follow the paved path, with the Alte Weser and the bathing area on our right and the river on our left. We walk halfway around the Alte Weser. At the end of the path, we keep left and walk along more quarry ponds, past anglers and boathouses. Finally we reach the Wieltsee, recognizable as a marina. If we turn left, we can stop off at "Smokey Island" (closed from November to April) and enjoy the view of the water.

Back to the main path, we continue along it and take the first turning to the right. We pass a dyke embankment and now walk outside the dyke on the Weser cycle path. After one kilometer, we keep right and walk up the dyke back to the starting point. The path is paved or surfaced. This walk is very popular with dog owners. We see the Dreyer harbor with the landing stage for the "Flotte Weser", walk along oxbow lakes and quarry ponds, perhaps observe sheep, definitely crows and ducks, cross the dyke foreland, which extends to Ahausen and can be explored on further walks. What is not obvious at first glance is that there was an inland dune here before sand and gravel were mined.

There was a port on the Weser, where timber and bricks were loaded and customs duties were levied, as the street name "Am Zollhof" still refers to, because Bremen had not joined the German Customs Union and Dreye belonged to the Kingdom of Hanover. Incidentally, the name Dreye comes from the fact that the Weser used to turn even more strongly here (dreit) than it does today. In summer, you should bring your swimming gear.

You can also find the tour at Komoot.
