Marked circular hiking trail (approx. 5.8 km): Traces of the past and modern times.

Directions: Turn off the B 6 to Linsburg and turn right at the crossroads in Meinkingsburg in the direction of Bolsehle. You will pass the Meinkingsburg restaurant and hotel. At the beginning of the B6 overpass, turn left and follow the path parallel to the B6, at the end the path leads left approx. 300 m into the forest to the parking lot of the forest playground.

The description follows the red arrow on the signs.

The circular route through the Grinderwald forest, the former hunting grounds of the Hanoverian kings, is easy to manage on well-maintained forest paths. Due to forestry and logging work, the paths can be temporarily affected. Due to the old deciduous trees, a hike offers charming impressions in every season. The trail begins and ends at the parking lot of the forest playground. The circular route can be extended or shortened thanks to the many forest paths.

The first rest stop is at several ponds in the middle of the forest. A small bridge has even been built over the ponds. They were created by damming the Linsburg stream. A smaller forest path takes you to the 1st hut "Zur Suhle". Here you can also take a break to admire the old imposing oaks.

At the next crossroads, 5 forest paths meet. There are various hiking trails with kilometer markings carved on boulders. After a longer hike past a post-war explosives bunker (the Allies kept dynamite there for removing tree stumps), you reach the "Ernst-August-Hütte", named after the Hanoverian King Ernst-August (1771-1845). The hut was built in 1967 by the Linsburg Forest Youth. It lies in the shade of 160-year-old beech trees.

You can already see it through the trees, the television tower. When you stand at the foot of the tower, you realize its size. The concrete tower was completed in 1978 and is 134 m high (platform 75 m). The path now leads towards the Russian soldiers' memorial. It is fenced in, hidden in the middle of the forest. Around 50 Russian and Polish prisoners of war, some of them nameless, rest here at the edge of a stand of beech trees. They died in 1944 and 1945 in labor camps, from where they were used for forestry work, among other things.

Shortly before the starting point of the circular trail, you can discover large boulders arranged in a circle under a mighty beech tree. The forest playground in Grinderwald is well worth a trip with children. There they can climb, slide, balance and much more.

The forest playground (9) in Grinderwald is definitely worth a trip with children. There they can climb, slide, balance and much more.
