Wassarium Drakenburg

The “Wassarium Drakenburg” is located on an approximately 7-hectare site at the Drakenburg Water Treatment Plant, situated in the triangle formed by Federal Highway B215, County Road K2, and the Bremen–Hanover railroad line.

Along a roughly 1,000-meter-long circular hiking trail, flanked by orchard meadows and bodies of water and featuring a water playground designed for children, visitors can learn about all aspects of “water”—particularly measures to protect groundwater—through approximately 47 informational signs. Water is made “tangible” as a common resource for everyone, and the project aims to raise visitors’ awareness of drinking water as our most essential resource. This experiential concept combines the areas of leisure, tourism, local recreation, and water management in an educational yet playful way.
