Naturschutzgebiet Eichenkratt

Special landscape
Nature reserve/Naturschutzgebiet
Trees that look like they grow directly out of the ground without a trunk.
This unique stand of trees is located on Liebenauer Weg, near the Januarsberg, in the direction of Deblinghausen. The "Eichenkratt" nature reserve covers 1.89 hectares and was declared a nature reserve on September 2, 1939. The name of this legendary stand of oaks is derived from the North German word "Kratt" (= oak scrub) and is explained by the impression that the trees seem to be missing their trunks, i.e. the oaks consist only of the treetops.
