Naturlehrpfad "Im Röden"

The 2.2-kilometer-long trail, which winds through the Wesermarsch region in southern Stolzenau, is marked with informational signs. But how exactly does gravel mining change the landscape? What kind of gravel is mined in Stolzenau? And what techniques are used? How are the flora and fauna evolving? The nature trail is designed so that it can change along with the landscape and shift as the gravel mining areas move. For now, cyclists and hikers still have to make a detour and walk most of the way there and back. But as the gravel extraction sites change, a loop trail may eventually be created.

Boulders along the trail mark the correct path at the junctions. There are nine information signs along the trail, as well as several viewing platforms, an observation tower, and a gravel bed for touching and observing. “Im Röden” exemplifies the successful integration of nature conservation and public education. The nature trail is another step toward creating a local recreation and leisure area. The Winzlar Ecological Protection Station provided technical support for the project.
