History:
During the Second World War, parts of today's Clausewitz barracks in Nienburg / Langendamm, as well as the local area and the adjacent site training area, were used as an air force ammunition facility.
Nienburg has served as a Bundeswehr base since 1956 and has been home to many different units and formations since then. At the time of PzBrig 3, until it was disbanded in 1994, PzGrenBtl 32, PzBtl 34 and RakArtBtl 12 were particularly noteworthy. Most recently, the property housed the staff and the staff battery ArtRgt 1 - Niedersachsen -, the RakArtBtl 12, the BeobPzArtBtl 113 and the 5./FJgBtl 352.
The traditional Army location began to transform into a pure Armed Forces Base property on 24.09.2002 at the latest, when the four-person EloKaBtl 912 pre-commando moved in here. The Center for Civil-Military Cooperation of the Bundeswehr (ZentrZMZBw), which was already on site, and the Nienburg Site Medical Center, together with the Electronic Warfare Battalion 912, are the current users of the barracks.
The joint appearance of Army, Air Force and Navy uniformed personnel now characterizes everyday service and is part of the normal appearance of the site. The soldiers from the three branches of the armed forces have quickly become accustomed to their new surroundings and have become a team thanks to their joint mission.
