Since then, it has been run by a non-profit association. With its colourful and diverse range of programs, rooms and advisory services, the KASCH is a central cultural attraction beyond the region. It is a place for exhibitions, cinema, theater, cabaret, music, parties and youth culture. Its program is as diverse as its visitors: varied, high-quality and entertaining.
Hinrich Bischoff bought the so-called "Berggarten" in 1873 to build a residential building and a dance hall. However, the new building came to an abrupt end: the festival hall collapsed before the music had even started. The cause is said to have been an autumn storm and bad timber.
Because of the obligation to provide premises for the activities of the shooting club, Hinrich Bischoff became the "Schützenwirt". The local writer Freudenthal mentions the Schützenhof in his book "Heidefahrten" in 1892 as a much frequented inn with the largest hall in the area.
