Archaeological site
The origins of the Linsburg hunting lodge go back to a hunting camp in the 16th century.
The Dukes of Calenberg extended the complex at the end of the 17th century due to lack of space. The half-timbered castle complex was around 20 hectares in size and was 800 meters long and 250 meters wide. The building complexes of the old palace and the new palace, including a three-winged complex, were connected by an oak avenue. The Dukes of Calenberg and later Electors of Hanover stayed here to hunt in the nearby Grinderwald forest. The kings of Hanover and England George I and George II also hunted in Linsburg.

From 1770, the castle complex was demolished. The hunts of the Hanoverian court in Grinderwald continued even after the end of the personal union in 1837. According to reports, these continued until 1845. Remains of the former castle pond and a building now used as a residential building have been preserved.
