Extensive marshes, wooded areas, the Weser river valley and typical upland moorland form the framework for a charming, varied region with a high recreational value. For this reason, Baden even had the title of "climatic health resort" at times in the past. Baden is not only where the Weser, the Alte Aller and the lock canal, which was widened in 2010, meet at the foot of the Baden mountains, but Baden also has the highest elevation in the area (approx. 48m), the Schraderberg. The terracing of Baden's Weser slope in the 19th century opened up a wide view over the Weser. A unique panorama with magnificent views as far as the Syker and Wildeshauser Geest as well as Verden Cathedral. Baden, the largest district of Achim, celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 2013
