Originally built around 1852 as the district court building of the former Calenberg district of Wölpe, the Amtshaus Wölpe is the last remaining building of the former district administration and is now commonly referred to as the Amtshaus. The other administrative facilities that stood on the castle hill after the old Wölpe Castle fell into ruin were demolished in 1876. From then on, the district court building served as the official residence of the district forestry officer. When the individual forest districts were merged, the building became useless and was eventually sold. Since then it has been privately owned. Viewing is only possible from the outside.
