The redoubt was built near the Weser by Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War in 1640. A lieutenant with 24 musketeers formed the garrison. After the war, the redoubt fell into disrepair, but was later extended and equipped with cannons by the Duke of Calenberg, Johann Friedrich. It has been preserved today as a sand embankment. An information board points out the redoubt. The path is signposted in Rohrsen
