Wassermühle Blenhorst

  • Water mill
  • Special wedding venue
Originally built in 1769, the Blenhorst sawmill and flour mill is unique in Lower Saxony.
The pre-industrial “power plant,” which was decommissioned in 1960 and restored from 1988 to 1998, has one waterwheel each for the mill and the sawmill. The mill is powered by overshot waterwheels, meaning that water flows from above into the wheel’s blades, setting it in motion. The watermill boasts the oldest fully functional equipment of its kind in northern Germany.

Situated next to a pond, the mill offers the option of holding civil wedding ceremonies. The lovingly renovated wedding hall can accommodate approximately 30 guests. A champagne reception, white doves, and other requests are gladly accommodated and individually arranged. Likewise, the entire wedding reception for up to 50 people can be held in the cozy mill guest room (for information: Weser-Aue Joint Municipality, Tel. 05021-6025-0).
