Naturschutzgebiet „Verdener Moor“

Nature reserve/Naturschutzgebiet
Moorland
The 91-hectare moorland area is the remains of a raised bog.
It has been heavily altered by peat extraction and is now overgrown with bushes. New paths have been created. A body of water has been created in the center. The moor was completely untouched until the 16th century. After that, it supplied the population with fuel by extracting peat. The Verden Moor has been a nature reserve since 1989 and has been partially renaturalized through de-watering and rewetting.
