There was no official Jewish community in Leese, but there were Jewish families in the town from the beginning of the 18th century until the time of National Socialism. They attended the synagogue in Stolzenau, but they had their own cemetery from the end of the 18th century at the latest. It is located outside the village, today near the railroad embankment on the Zappenberg road.
