Heidepark Essern

Park
Citizens’ park
Erratic boulder
Park-like grounds laid out in 1906.
22 large boulders, the heaviest weighing 80 hundredweights, were painstakingly removed from the heath and placed in the open space, along the paths and in the bushes. In addition to these stones, which were brought in 1907, a huge boulder slab and some smaller boulders were added in 1911. To enrich the flora of the Heidepark, 30 rare and little-known tree species were planted. Over the years, this forest botanical site has been used to teach natural history. There is a barbecue hut and a public toilet.
