Düsselburg Rehburg

The castle was first mentioned in the Colenberg document book in 1207 under the name "Dusleborch". The Düsselburg had the characteristics of a castle from Roman times, as well as those of a castle from the later Middle Ages. Its date should therefore be placed between these periods.

This was once the border between the Germanic tribes of the Cherusci in the south and the Angrivarians in the north. Düsselburg was destroyed by fire twice, in 772 and 783. The second destruction sealed the fortification's final demise. Today, only the ring wall and the name remind us that a castle stood here over 1000 years ago.
