The Raths-Keller was built as a restaurant and town hall according to plans by architect and master carpenter Wilhelm Meßwarb and master builder Dökel in 1870. The building school/town hall was also added in 1899 according to Meßwarb's plans. Inside is a very beautiful hall.
The municipal construction engineering winter school was founded on 01 July 1900 and recognized as a "Master School of German Crafts".
The aim of the school was to teach the technical and business knowledge required of building tradesmen when taking the master craftsman examination.
As a special decoration, the Raths-Keller was given an oak entrance porch in 1910 which was built by students of the building school using traditional carpentry techniques.
