The Steinhuder Meer Railway (St.M.B.) was put into operation in 1898. 

 The once 53-kilometre-long narrow-gauge railroad stretched from Wunstorf via Steinhude, Bad Rehburg, Stolzenau and Uchte. Passengers seeking relaxation were mainly transported to the "Lake Province" at weekends.
