The old Varste manor is located south of the village of Blender on the left bank of the Weser. The mighty avenue of oak trees planted around the turn of the century lines the path from the main road to the Hesse family farm in Blender-Varste.

The history of the Varste estate dates back to 1435. In this year, a farmstead in Varste was documented, which Heinrich Korlehake had held as a fief from the Counts of Hoya.
