Bastion Christian Ludwig (Weserwall)
====================================

- Historical structure

A green field in front of a historic section of a wall along a river, with trees and buildings in the background.

A natural stone wall at the Christian Ludwig Bastion, surrounded by grass and plants, including lavender.

A green path along the Weser River in Nienburg, lined with tall trees; to the left, a view of the water.

The Christian Ludwig Bastion on a sunny day, with trees along the shore and a blue bridge in the background.

The bastion was extended from 1654 by Duke Christian Ludwig von Braunschweig-Lüneburg.

 A sandstone plaque with the initials "CL" and the year 1662 reminds us of this. The bastion survived the dismantling of the fortifications during the French occupation. Today, there are memorials to the fallen of several wars.

The former ramparts and fortifications around the historic old town are now a quiet zone and surround the city like a green belt. The ramparts include the Weserwall, the Auewall and the Stahnwall.
